Stewart, winner of the Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award for his historical biography, "The New Negro: The Life of Alaine Locke." A professor of Black Studies at the University of California Santa Barbara, Dr. Stewart is a world-renowned writer, speaker, philosopher and historian, having curated major exhibitions including, "To Color America: Portraits by Winold Reiss" at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery.
In his distinguished career, Dr. Stewart has also authored numerous books and articles, and held fellowships, visiting professorships, and lectureships at Harvard University, Yale University, UCLA, Tufts University, Howard University, and the University of Rome.
