Details

Through the expansive depths of Khayal compositions...to the lyrical grace of Thumri and the devotional warmth of Bhajan, this program will unfold with rarely presented afternoon ragas in the likes of Bhimpalasri, Multani...and many more...demonstrating the structure, mood, poetry and philosophy behind each Raga. This concert will seek to create a bridge between tradition and understanding...where listening becomes experience and experience becomes Rasa (the sentiment and philosophy behind each Raga).
Come...immerse yourself...in Raga, Bhava (colors) and Anubhava (realization) beyond borders...beyond language!
Please arrive at 2:00 pm or shortly thereafter so that everyone can be comfortably seated. The first part of the program will start promptly at 2:30 pm at which point gates will be closed and no late comers can be accommodated -- as there is no holding area in this hall.                                                                                           The first part of the program will consist of folk songs, Tagore songs, Bengali pop songs and semi-classicals -- presented by Sri Sumanta (Ronnie) Mukherjee, an extremely talented and versatile singer originally from Kolkata. Sumanta is an expert classical singer but has chosen to present lighter songs as a contrast to the main program. He will be singing for an hour -- followed by a tea break.
At 4:00 pm our main program will begin with Sri Supriyo Dutta an exceptionally talented artiste of the Indore-Kirana Gharana (his style infused with some fine nuances of the Agra Gharana). Supriyo's deep resonant voice and impeccable sense of rhythm will surely elevate you, the audience, to greater heights possibly never reached before. It's good to mention here that he has travelled to far corners of the world with his music and has had the rarest opportunity to perform before the Pope himself in Italy.
Supriyo will be accompanied by Sri Mallar Goswami (rhythm) and Sri Anirban Chakrabarty (harmonium), both renowned musicians from Kolkata.
Sumanta will be accompanied by our local rhythm icon Sri Debu Nayak, as they go back a long time, having performed on stage together on several occasions, two of them being Tagore Music Group's own productions.
We trust this unique presentation will be memorable and extremely enjoyable. So please secure your tickets early as space is rather limited.
Parking: There is plenty of parking in the adjacent parking lot (go past the Center and immediately look to your left to find the parking lot) or on-street parking -- which should be plentiful.
